My doctor tried over and over to turn him (which is Super painful by the way) and he would just flip back or not budge. So they did a c section. Everything went great!

He’s healthy, I’m recovering well, and we are just soooooo thankful that God has blessed us with our sweet little boy.

I’ve already fed him and he’s snuggled with Daddy and Mommy. He is a sweet snuggler, by the way! He’s getting all checked out in the nursery for a little while longer and then he will be able to stay with us the rest of the time.

We are just overwhelmed with love and thankfulness.

Happy Birthday, Michael!

20120702-115712.jpg

A couple of days ago, we had our last date pre-parenthood to celebrate Michael’s birthday. It was wonderful and much needed.

But TODAY is the actual day my amazing husband turns 25! So I just wanted to take a few minutes to brag on him an wish him the greatest birthday ever.

.

Michael, these are some of the things I love about you:

• You’re my best friend. We have such a great time together!
• You treat me like a queen.
• I love that we like so many of the same things.
• It melts my heart for you to be so involved with getting everything ready for Josiah.
• I love it when you talk to my belly and try to play with our son. You’re going to be the greatest daddy ever!
• The way you trust in God is such an encouragement to me and others.
• You do a great job with the students. It makes me proud to listen to you teaching them.
• You truly have a caring heart.
• I love all of our quirky jokes and quotes. It’s fun being weird with you.
• You’re an amazing man, daddy, & husband… I could go on and on.

Have an amazing birthday!! I love you more than words can say!

Balumtine’th Day

If you need a little Valentines Laugh today, enjoy!

This is Dave Barnes and “Balumtine’th Day”.

Michael and I were introduced to this video our sophomore year of college.  Since then, it’s been one we’ve regularly quoted.  Especially “My body is like Disneyland.”  It cracks me up that a guy who has so many amazing love songs can be such a goof!

If you’re in a lovey mood and would prefer one of his serious songs, here’s “God Gave Me You.”

Happy Valentines Day!

Two Years Ago

Two years ago, I married my best friend.

And since then, it’s been the best two years of my life.  I couldn’t ask for a more wonderful, thoughtful, fun, godly, and loving husband.  I am truly blessed.

.

And now for a little wedding flashback!

.

I took my bridal portraits a few months before we got married since I knew it would be too cold for outside shots in December.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

.

Our wedding day was my favorite day ever.  My parents are wonderful, and they gave me my dream wedding.  I’d never thought that I would get married in December, but I’m so glad we did!  It was perfect.

We decided to see each other before the ceremony, and this was Michael’s face when I came through the door.

We loved having this time to take pictures and just relax before the wedding.

After we took pictures, we went to a little chapel–just the two of us–and had communion and prayed before the wedding.  It was one of my favorite parts of the whole day.

The church where we got married had somewhere around 100 poinsettias and we were able to move them wherever we wanted.  It was SO nice to be able to use them to decorate.  It was better than I could have imagined.

I’ve always been a Daddy’s girl, so it was really special for him to walk me down the aisle and give me to Michael.

My Uncle Alan officiated our wedding.  What made that even more special was that he also officiated my parents’ wedding.

We were surrounded by such wonderful family and friends.  I’m so thankful for their support.

Michael’s favorite part!

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Elizondo!  Can you tell we were excited?!

While everyone headed over to the reception hall, we finished taking pictures.  Our wonderful wedding party!  Each of these people mean so, so much to us.

All of the kids in our wedding!  It was really important to us to have our cousins and other special family friends in our wedding.  They all had a different job, from handing roses to our mothers and grandmothers, to lighting candles, to being a junior or regular flower girl or ring bearer.  I love that they were able to be a part of our special day!

For some reason, I don’t have a picture of our families online.  But I will say that we have the best families in the world.  We are so thankful for their love and support.

Our reception was so much fun!  We’re probably biased, but we both think that our reception was the most fun we’ve had.  We had an amazing DJ team, and everything went so smoothly.

Our first dance:

I bawled like a baby when I danced with my dad.  And still, to this day, when I hear “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman, I tear up.

I’m so happy that so many people danced!  They are what made it so much fun!

My brother and one of my little cousins:

We LOVE dancing, so it was a given that we had to have a dance at our wedding.

At one point, the DJ played a “Grease” medly and had us line up on either side of the room.  This is one of my favorite pictures from the night because you can see aunts, cousins (older and younger), and family friends all getting into it.

My little sister caught the bouquet:

And we had a wonderful time dancing with everyone (and paying for our honeymoon!!) during our “Dollar Dance”:

It really was the time of my life.  Thank you to everyone who was a part of our special day!

And most of all, thank you to my husband for being so wonderful.  It’s been a great two years, and I’m so excited for all of the years to come!

I’m Getting a New Sister-In-Law

The title says it all:  I’m getting a new sister-in-law!  My little brother proposed to his girlfriend, Madison, a week ago.  Michael and I have only spent time with her twice, but they seem to be absolutely perfect for each other.  I’m SO happy for them!  God is so good, and their story is so sweet.

They’re planning on getting married early–mid March.  It’s so crazy.  I feel like my brother should still be in 4th grade…but he’s all grown up and getting married!

.

I love you, Buddy, and I’m proud of you!

Michael + Wal-Mart = Hate

Michael absolutely hates Wal-Mart.  In fact, he hates it so much that he’s said multiple times that hell will be an endless Wal-Mart check out line.

We try to only go once a month because 1) it saves money; and 2) Michael hates it.

Well, we’re officially out of EVERYTHING at our house.  We have no toilet paper, dish soap, regular soap, shampoo, bread, milk, or any of our staple meal items.  It’s no longer an option — we HAVE TO go to Wal-Mart.

.

Now that you know how much Michael loathes Wal-Mart, you can better appreciate what I’m about to tell you:

.

Michael is at Wal-Mart right now — by himself — to buy groceries and everything else we need — for the whole month!

.

And what makes it even more incredible is that he volunteered to do so.  In fact, even when I told him that we could wait and go tonight, he refused and said that he was going by himself so that I didn’t have to strain my back anymore.

If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.  I’ve got an amazing husband.

Funfetti Cake and Rainbow Chip Icing

Yesterday I had to stay home from work because I’ve messed my back up again.  I injured my upper back in the Forge (a leadership training program) in January of 2008, and then that summer I injured my lower back at Pine Cove Camp.  It’s never been the same since.

Even though it usually doesn’t hurt me to the point where I can’t do anything, there are times it gets bad again.  The past few days have been one of those times.

While I was sleeping for 3 hours (painkillers will do that to ya…), Michael left to run some errands.  When I woke up, I saw a surprise on the counter!  He said that he’d tried to buy my popcorn that we can’t find anywhere (Orville Redenbacher Pour Over Butter Popcorn), and Wal-Mart still didn’t have it, so he bought me something else instead:

Funfetti Cake and Rainbow Chip Icing!  This is our favorite!  We’ve both loved it since we were kids.  We made one round cake and 12 cupcakes.

It was VERY yummy, and it cheered me up to know that my husband was thinking about me and wanted to do something special for me.  It’s little things like this that make me love him even more.

Chile + Austin = love

This past weekend, I was able to be a part of my REALLY great friend Cecily’s wedding.  Cec and I were roommates in The Forge together, and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding too!

Cecily was in Chile this past year (from Jan. to Jan.) and met/fell in love with Marcelo.  Michael and I were able to meet him a few months ago, and he’s a GREAT guy.  I’m so happy for both of them (even though I hate that they’re moving back to Chile for two years…)!

On Friday, I drove down to Brenham, TX for the rehearsal.  I was actually surprised that the drive went at fast as it did.  Thank goodness for phones and music.

We found these awesome “bouquets” to practice with

That night, we made all of the bouquets!  I had never done anything like this, so I was really excited about it.

I worked with another girl and we did Cec’s bouquet.  We had to use all of our hair bands to hold it together–and it became her “something borrowed”!

The bridal luncheon was at a really cute little place in Brenham.  I think it was called something like Funky Cafe…

Right before the ceremony

The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous!  It was outside, but there was a really nice breeze.  Cec was gorgeous, and everything was perfect.  Marcelo said his vows in Spanish and Cec said hers in English–and I definitely teared up.

After the ceremony pics

The other Forgie girls that were able to come

Their cake had little strings coming out of it, and as part of the Chilean wedding traditions, they had all of the single ladies come and pull a string at the same time.  Whoever got the toy ring was the next to get married!

There were 9 Forgies there including Cec!  It was SOOO good to be together and catch up.  We missed everyone that couldn’t be there (and the hubbies that couldn’t make it), but we had a great time.

Cec and Marcelo did the National Dance of Chile for us.  It was so fun to watch.

We had a ton of fun!  All of the costumes are another Chilean tradition.  Halfway through the dance, the wedding party passes out costumes to liven things up again.

Love you, Cec!  Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!
